GENERAL

EXPERIENCE CONGREGATIONS IN MISSION

YOUTH

  • January 4 and the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each monthis Elevate! at Colonial Hills congregation (3539 S MO 7 Highway, Blue Springs) from 6:45pm-8:30pm for all youth grades 8th – 12th. Please join us for snacks, games, prizes, discussion, personal growth, special guest speakers and fellowship. Have questions?   • All children and youth are welcome to participate in the youth ministry events at Colonial Hills congregation (3539 S MO 7 Highway, Blue Springs). Go to colonial-hills.org for calendars of events for Play Group (babies-Pre-K), Community Kid’s Club (K-5th) and Youth Group (6th-12th). It is great to be part of Community!

SENIOR ADULTS

COMMUNITY

  • January 9 Church Women United will meet at First Christian Church (125 S Pleasant, Independence) at 10:00am for the regular meeting followed by a time of “Meet and Greet” All women are invited.
  • January 29 Beacon Heights Community of Christ and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church will co-host a Habitat for Humanity concert at 7:00pm at Beacon Heights congregation (19402 E Holke Rd., Independence). Choirs and musicians from Independence churches will present a varied program. A freewill offering will be taken with all proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. Refreshments follow the program. Child care will be provided.
  • February 12 Center Place Singers Chicken Dinner from 11:30am–1:30pm in the dining hall of the Stone Church congregation (1012 W Lexington, Independence). Cost: $10.00 for Adults; $4.00 for children 3-10; free for children under 2. Enjoy oven-baked chicken, great fellowship, and musical entertainment. Tickets available from any choir member or at the door. Carry-out also available.

EMPLOYMENT

  • Graceland University is seeking a full time, 12 month Admissions Counselor on the Graceland University Independence campus. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in college admission, counseling, public relations or marketing/sales desired. Must be self-motivated, results oriented, energetic, able to relate effectively to other people, able to manage multiple tasks, and have effective and persuasive public speaking and writing skills. Successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities: Responsible for recruiting potential high school students using extensive telephone communications, electronic mail, social media, travel, hosting of campus visits and coordination with alumni and campus colleagues. Evening and weekend work required.
