  • April 30 Central Mission Youth Ministry 2nd Annual Dodgeball Tournament! Do you love dodgeball? Fun? Fellowship? Teamwork? The sound of whistles blowing? The feeling you get as you dodge a ball coming towards you? Youth Ministries of Central Mission will be hosting our 2nd annual Mission Center wide congregational youth group dodgeball competition. The competition will be against congregational youth groups comprised of high school and middle school aged youth (grades 6-12). Don’t have many youth in your congregation? Not a problem! Contact Tyler to add you to a team, or simply show up and we will make sure you play. The event will begin at 4:00pm and end around 6:00pm.   • April 30 Central Mission Youth Ministry SPEC Open Gym! Are you in High School and interested in going to SPEC this July? Come to the Family Life Center (500 W Pacific, Independence MO 64050) from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for some fun open gym time! Volleyball, basketball, soccer and other sports and activities will be an option to engage with. You will also have the opportunity to sign up for SPEC and plan your experience. This event follows the Dodgeball Tournament. We hope you join!   • May 3 (the last one until fall!)is Elevate! at Colonial Hills congregation (3539 S MO 7 Highway, Blue Springs) from 6:45pm-8:30pm for all youth grades 8th – 12th. Have questions?   • May 3 Retired Appointees and Spouses will meet at 11:15AM at Pizza Ranch (4660 S. Bass Pro Drive, Independence). The program will be presented by Larrene Hagaman, who will share stories of working with refugees in Oregon and also experiences from her years at Precious Moments Chapel.   • October 12 SAVE THE DATE Adult Gathering at Good Shepherd congregation (4341 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City) from 9:00am-2:00pm. Speakers: Cathi Cackler-Veazey and Andy Kroesen.


  • May 1 Church Women United will celebrate May Friendship Day at 10:00am at St. Paul United Methodist Church (3601 S Sterling Ave., Independence). Please bring a salad for the lunch and your donation for Least Coin. All women are invited!
  • June 3 Health Ministries Golf Tournament at WinterStone Golf Course. Enjoy 18 holes of fun and fresh air with special contests along the way, straightest drive, longest putt, and more. Team prizes for 3 flights. Registration fee includes greens fee, cart, breakfast, snacks, buffet lunch, and a Super Ticket. Early bird registration $120/player through May 8, $135/player after that.   • The Independence Ministerial Alliance is supporting an effort to provide gift cards for graduating Independence School District homeless teens. Tax-deductible donations can be made through the IMA, checks can be given to the Independence School District Foundation or contributions can be made to ISDF at www.ourisdf.org. Mark all contributions for IMA Homeless Seniors Graduation Project. If you wish to donate, send by May 11 to Rev. Sherry McGlaughlin, pastor, Blue Ridge Blvd Christian Church, 3625 Blue Ridge Blvd., Independence, MO   64052.   • Central Mission Center Event Registration Position to assist with registration customer service, application management, reconciling of event registration for camps, reunions, and retreats as well as other support duties as needed. This is a part-time position (full-time from mid-May through August). Computer skills including Word processing and Excel preferred. Interested applicants should complete an application at Central Mission Center, 500 West Pacific Ave., Independence, MO and include a current resume, if available, with a brief summary of background skills, availability and contact information.
